
Liza Gipsova
Director of Photography
Liza Gipsova is an award-winning cinematographer. She was selected to participate in the ASC Vision Mentorship and is a member of the International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600). Her work has taken her to four continents and played at festivals worldwide, most notably Tribeca, Fantasia and many Academy Award-qualifying festivals, as well as the United Nations, the Museum of the Moving Image and Anthology Film Archives.
Her work spans narrative, commercial and documentary, and her multifaceted background runs the gamut of traditional, digital, photographic and theater arts, as well as co-founding Curiouser Creative Studio, a visual media production company with multiple Telly Awards and the recognition of the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA).
Liza is passionate about building community and mentorship. She organizes a cinematography and production design educational salon series, Lenses and Lampshades, as well as events for several female/nb+ cinematography groups. She’s been a guest speaker at the New School, the Corcoran School of Art and worked as a teaching assistant at American University, her alma mater
Soviet-born and raised in and around Washington, DC, in her downtime Liza enjoys dancing enthusiastically, traveling, southern exposure and being near/on/in the water with her partner and kiddos.
