Embracing Growth and Longevity in Entertainment and Media

Cutter Connections Turns 10!

This year’s Cutter Connections event, Embracing Growth and Longevity in Entertainment and Media, brought together over 90 women working across film, television, and media for an unforgettable evening of inspiration, mentorship, and celebration. With our community now over 1,000 women strong, we gathered to honor a decade of connection and the power of women supporting women in production.

The evening featured a dynamic panel conversation with Arianna Maxwell (Production Coordinator & 1st AC), Mary Nittolo (Founder & Chief Creative Officer, The STUDIO NYC), Lauren Brenner (Executive Producer, Live Video Production at Condé Nast), and Elizabeth Victorine (Executive Producer, Shutterstock Studios), moderated by Patrice Francois, Executive Director of Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival. Together, they shared insights on navigating careers, creative longevity, and thriving in an evolving entertainment landscape.

Guests also participated in intimate mentorship roundtables, creating space for emerging professionals and seasoned creatives to connect meaningfully and exchange wisdom across roles and experiences in production.

From empowering conversations to new collaborations and lots of joy in the room, this milestone event reflected what Cutter is all about: building a more inclusive, supportive, and sustainable future in entertainment—one relationship at a time.

Reviving the multi-hyphenate

The world has changed and so have we - more of us than ever are starting independent businesses and trying on multiple professional hats - DP/Directors, Writer/Producers, Editors/VFX/Animators, etc.! So, we gathered to answer questions about the benefits and challenges of working for oneself, why it’s important to have a versatile skillset, how to overcome the stigma of having more than one title, and how to stay relevant and hirable via word of mouth alone.

Our esteemed moderator Director/Producer/Writer, Rebecca Eskreis and brilliant panelists DP, Jendra Jarnigan, Director/Editor, Farah X, Director/Writer/Producer, Assal Ghawami, and Producer/Director, Katie Leary walked us through their journeys to success and reflected on what they’d wish they’d known earlier.
